Children
Lynn Wallis acted for a father of an infant in a contact application. Matters were complicated as he resided abroad and was a foreign national. The mother was, quite naturally, very nervous of her baby daughter travelling to the father’s home for contact.
An application for contact was made. Lynn advised the father to seek a gradual build up of contact to reassure the mother. Despite the eight hour round trip, the father agreed to this course of action and was commended by the Judge for this given the age of the child. A series of hearings followed during which the father continued to impress the court and contact gradually increased, despite the mother’s reservations.
Eventually, the mother was so confident of the father’s commitment and his understanding of her importance in the child’s life such that she willingly agreed that the child should travel to the father’s home so that she could experience that culture and strengthen the bond with her paternal family.
